Columbus murdered children and now we have a holiday. We also have a brand new show nearly one year to the date of the first Afterlife release. I blew the dust off my studio equipment, and got Al Lock of Ambush Radio to join me. POMP’s Afterlife – Seven Things

There’s this new Seven Things meme spreading around the Internet like an STD. Basically the rules go as follows:

“Each player starts with seven random facts/habits about themselves. People who are tagged need to write on their own blog about their seven things, as well as these rules. You need to choose seven people to get tagged and list their names. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them that they have been tagged and to read your blog!”

As many of you know, I love airing my dirty secrets publicly. But rather than blog abut my random facts and habits, I figured why not record them in an audio form? So Al Lock joined me once again, and we did just that in a one hour and thirty-seven minute show I’m calling POMP’s Afterlife – Seven Things.

POMP’s Afterlife – What’s Up?

Just because I don’t leave my house, doesn’t mean drama escapes me. This week’s show is a throwback to Hate the Radio. It’s a more personal recording in the vain of POMP sessions. I don’t plan on doing these very often, but from time-to-time I will release them as I deem appropriate.

In this show I share two stories with Alan Lock, one about a home invasion in Colorado that my wife was involved in, and the other one is something I have never talked about publicly. I have close friends and family I’ve never even shared this story with.

The Overnightscape #696

Frank Edward Nora “rambles” about me recording my therapy sessions in episode #696 of his talk show The Overnightscape. He calls POMP sessions “very compelling listening” and he also gives a nice plug to The Harass Bastards — and I love plugs almost as much as I love crazy bitches. If you’re interested, it’s towards the end of his show and you can listen to it here.

If you haven’t heard POMP sessions yet, it’s still available from the sidebar of this blog. I recorded all three and released them online. I have no plans of continuing therapy, but if I ever go back, I will probably release those too.

And finally, if you haven’t heard The Harass Bastards, you can listen to me “freak out” Ortega and Sideswipe, on the HarassCast we did for the movie The Crow. I hold the distinguished honor of being the first ever “bleep” on a show they promote on the RiffTrax forums with the following line:

I miss recording audio. I miss being creative. I miss being heard by the strange masses. Many things have happened to me in the last three years, that I think have been both life altering and significant in making me the person I am today.

My (ex) wife changed me, Denver changed me, Hate the Radio changed me, Syracuse changed me, and so did this latest move to Houston. I’m undecided on whether these changes were good or bad, or both. But I do know I’ve always had a need to express myself, and this is my latest attempt at just that.

I’ve always been an emotionally withdrawn person. I’ve been called “morose” and “socially inept” and the people that have said these things about me have been mostly right. Today for the first time in my adult life I went to a therapist. I tried to be as real and honest as possible … and me being me, I recorded the entire session for public consumption.

Some think I’m crazy for doing this, and other’s think it’s my way of trivializing and making light of what has happened to me. But I’m just trying to make sense of it all. Love it or hate it. This is me and my life at this moment in time.
