Corporate Avenger: Born Again

August 31st, 2004 by POMP

Corporate Avenger claim their new CD Born Again is coming soon. In the meantime, you can preview the song, “Gay Muslims for Christ.” They say it’s “a song pointing out the absurdity of using God as an inspiration for violence and reminding us of the sacredness of life and what an incredible opportunity life is for everyone.”

They sound like a bunch of goddamned hippies to me.

The Shining

August 30th, 2004 by POMP

On Sunday afternoon we drove to Estes Park, to visit the historic Stanley Hotel. Fans of The Shining by Stephen King, may be more familiar with its other name–The Overlook Hotel. I never read the book, and I’m not a big fan of the Kubrick atrocity. And while I was there, I never had hot or cold flashes, and the hair never stood up on the back of my neck. I didn’t see anything strange or unusual either. But my camera phone was acting up most of the time we were on the fourth floor. I do not believe in ghosts … but that place has a definite energy.

This is one of the Moblog pics I took while looking down the stairwell. My camera phone auto focuses as well as automatically adjusts to lighting conditions. I’ve taken over 100 photos with it and never had this happen. I even reshot the pic trying to recreate it, but had no such luck. Oh, and the picture was in focus when I took it, and like a “swipe” effect, blurred that way on my LCD afterwards–as I was walking down the hall.

Stephen King got the idea for The Shining while staying in room 217 of the Stanley Hotel. Rumor has it, he wrote half the book during his stay. This pic of room 217 was also in focus at the time I shot it.

Check out POMP’s Moblog for the rest of my pics from the Stanley Hotel. And check out the weird “spots” on this pic taken with a digital camera from the fourth floor. We have about 10 interior shots with these odd “spots” in them. If I find any with different anomalies, I’ll post them too.

In the meantime, feel free to let me know your thoughts on this.
