I, Robot
July 18th, 2004 by POMP
I saw I, Robot last night, and I must say despite some poor reviews, I really enjoyed it. It even inspired me to buy the Isaac Asimov book by the same title. The movie is a little dumbed down, and it could do without many of its corny one-liners, but if you enjoyed either of the last two Matrix movies, or Minority Report, you should like this one too. I’m into futuristic Sci-Fi shit like this, so I really dug it.
I, Robot is loosely based on Asimov’s Three Laws of Robotic’s. I liked the “Three Laws Safe!” marketing slogan used repeatedly in the movie, when describing the NS-5 robots. Without giving too much of the plot away, the basic premise is that the robots start acting against these laws and harming humans. Towards the end of the movie you find out why they are doing this, and this is what makes the whole goddamn movie worthwhile. It’s really fucking cool, and that’s all I’m gonna say. Go see it.
